Velleman MK160 Remote Control Cell Phone (Electronic Project Kit)

The Velleman MK160 will allow you to operate a relay via a GSM phone with no special wiring or hacking. No need to open or dismantle your phone in order to connect with the remote control kit. Once linked with a phone, the MK160 is activated when an incoming call triggers the backlighting on the connected phone (cell phone used will need to have the backlight feature).

Of note: the MK160 has the ability to screen some unwanted calls, but may still be activated by random callers.

The MK160 uses the GSM's photo sensor to:

  • Turn lights on and off
  • Start heaters and appliances
  • Activate alarms
  • Open gates
  • Control animal feeders

The MK160 can be set to two different modes, one which allows you to toggle on and off, the other that lets you to select an amount of time for the MK160 to run before it auto turns off. Your MK160 will need to be in an enclosure or light-free location to operate correctly.

Cell phone required for this kit (not included) – Assembly and soldering also required – Intermediate experience recommended
